Pilgrim Monument & Provincetown Museum

Standing over 250 feet in the sky, the monument is an all granite building signifying the site of the anchoring of the Mayflower in 1860, before moving on to Plymouth. Whether arriving in Cape Cod by sea, land or sky, it is the very first thing you'll see when approaching. You can climb the 116 stairs and 6 ramps to the top and reward yourself with breathtaking panoramic views of Ptown and the Cape Cod shoreline.

History of Pilgrim Monument

Built to commemorate the landing of the Mayflower in the New World, Pilgrim Monument signifies the 5 weeks spent by the Pilgrims exploring the tip of Cape Cod before sailing on to Plymouth. It was at this site the Pilgrims drafted the historic Mayflower Compact, the first written document establishing a democratic self-government.

The Mayflower Compact

Signed in Provincetown Harbor, November 1620, the Mayflower Compact is considered the first written document to establish governance of law for the New World.
